Nevertheless, if the amount of action is not for you, 5 star hotel deals in Hivernage or Gueliz, both located adjacent to Medina and a 20 minute walk from Jemaa El Fna market square might be just what you're looking for.
Irrespective of its close proximity, the wide palm tree lined lanes of Hivernage is a world away from the teeming narrow streets of Medina and Jemaa El Fna. It is more laid-back, feature mainly large top hotels, many boutique shops and will be a welcome reprieve after a few days in Medina.
If you prefer staying in a quiet area, Gueliz is where life takes on a more modern and western approach. You won't have the typical Marrakechi experience, but it is close by. Also, if you will be staying long enough, splitting your time between staying in Medina and quiet Gueliz could be a good idea.
It may not be for all, but since you may be arriving in Morocco via Casablanca you may as well stay over, check out the nightlife scene, shop in boutique outlets in contrast to the souks of Jemaa El Fna market and head for the beach before proceeding with your journey.
